Porous and Perpetual & Accumulation of Familiar
Installation created for Becoming After in September 2019. This installation consisted of two separate components that together created an enclosed environment that could be entered and explored by the audience.

The structure, Porous and Perpetual, is based on the shape of beehive huts, or clochán, and barrow mounds. The cloth interior of the hut is constructed of repurposed cloth and has an embroidered beast coiling around the ceiling of the hut mimicking the structure of the rug on the dirt floor. The rug, Accumulation of Familiar, was created using repurposed and naturally dyed fabric that was braided and sewed together.
This piece was meant to explore the porousness of prehistoric monuments such as barrow mounds and other prehistoric structures that create internal space. By porousness, I refer to how they exist as both human-made and natural, as both interior and environment. They are places that are influx and without fixed meaning, and yet their presence is persistent. They allow and respond to the meaning projected on to them.
